The Hitchcock-Butterfield Company began in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1996. J. Frederic & Vera Cohen, owners of Lamp & Lantern Store (now Lamps & More), saw a void in the retail home market and decided to expand their product line to meet this need.
Fred began his career as a territorial sales rep, and later expanded into retail with The Lamp & Lantern store. With the birth of The Hitchcock-Butterfield Company, he has further expanded his expertise into manufacturing. Other accomplishments include serving a term on the Board of Directors for the National Home Lighting Institute, and the development of Sparkle Plenty, the first spray-on, no-wipe chandelier cleaner.
With over 38 years of sales experience, Fred & Vera offer a wide selection of American made mirrors. Between the Cameo line of wood-framed, custom-sized mirrors and the Classics group of gold, silver and copper leaf finishes, The Hitchcock-Butterfield Company boasts over 200 items in its product line. While the website states this mirror comes with a wood frame, it is not a solid wood frame. I wanted to match existing black matte frames I already have in my house. This mirror frame appears to be pressed wood (composite wood with a plastic heavy wood grain(oak grain)finish. Also its finish is not solid black. Its heavy wood grain plastic finish can be easily seen, something you cannot see on the website picture. Quality is marginal.
