It's wonderful for towels, even heavy. I just gather a bit more material to grab it. They are mounted to a 5-panel door. So there is a bit more space behind the top of hook in the recessed panel.

This is a nice quality hook that is easy to install. The hook part is really small, and a little close to the wall. If you are hanging anything more than a bathroom or kitchen hand towel, it will not stay on the hook. Items with a loop (like a robe) work ok.
